Some important stories for the students
Dress does not Make a Man Great
Sheikh Saadi was a great poet of Iran. He led a very simple life. Once the king of the country invited him to the court. Walking all day long on foot, he became tired and took shelter in a rich man's house at night. Saadi had a very simple dress as usual. The rich man considered him an ordinary traveller and did not entertain (আপ্যায়ন করা) him well. The next day, Saadi left the rich man's house and reached the king's court. The king received him cordially and presented his royal dress. On his way back home, Saadi again took shelter in the same rich man's house. Seeing his royal (রাজকীয়) dress, the rich man took great care of him and served him rich and delicious (সুস্বাদু) food items. Saadi started putting the food items into his pocket instead of eating. The rich man became astonished (বিস্মিত) at his strange behaviour and asked the reason for his doing so. Saadi gently told the host of his behaviour on the first day and the second day. "The delicious food was given to me for the dress. So I am putting this food in my dress," he said. The man became very ashamed (লজ্জিত) of remembering his behaviour and begged pardon (ক্ষমা). Saadi then introduced himself to the rich man and took leave of him.
Dress does not Make a Man Great
The king of Iran used to invite the great poet Sheikh Sa'adi very often to his court. Once on his way to the king's court the poet took shelter in a nobleman's house for a night. He was then in a very simple dress. The nobleman could not recognize him and they showed disrespect and dishonour to him. The poet left the nobleman's house in utter dismay.
A few days later, he went there putting on a rich dress. This time he was duly respected and honoured by the people of the nobleman's house. They gave him rich food to eat. The poet did not eat the food but he began to put the food in his pocket. Being astonished, the nobleman asked the poet about his mysterious behaviour. Then, the poet said, "This food is for my dress, not for me. Had it been not so, I would have been treated in the same manner when I was very poorly dressed. "The nobleman was really sad about this. He begged forgiveness to the poet.
The Truthfulness of Hazrat Abdul Quadir Jilani
In his boyhood, Hazrat Abdul Quadir Jilani was going to Bagdad for education. On the eve of his departure from home, his mother said to him, “My son, never tell a lie and don’t get frightened in danger.” Bagdad was Jar away from his home. He began his journey in the company of a band of merchants. The way was infested with robbers. After five days a gang of robbers fell upon the travelers. One of the robbers caught hold of the boy. The gang leader saw it and said, “Let the boy go. He has nothing with him.” At this, the boy said, “No, you are wrong. I have forty gold coins sewn in my sleeves.”
The leader asked him why he told them about his gold coins. The boy said in reply that at the time of his departure his mother forbade him to tell a lie. He could not disobey his mother. Hearing this, a change came into the gang leader. He gave up robbery with all his men. They began to lead a good and honest life. Being inspired by the truthful boy, they became good men. They decided to reform themselves and gradually gave up all their bad habits.
Moral of the story: ‘Truth always triumphs.’
Nobody believes a liar
Once there lived a cowboy in a certain village. He used to tend cows in the field near a forest. It was not far from his village. The boy was cert/ wicked. To make fun he often cried out, 'Tiger! Tiger!" The villagers would come running to hero him. But when they came near, they found- no tiger and the cowboy simply laughed at them. Alter a few days, the boy again made the same fun. Again the villagers came him. They found no tiger there. In fact, the boy made fun of it. Villagers became very angry and advised the boy not to make that kind of fun in future.
Unfortunately, one day a tiger really came and the being frightened started shouting , 'Tiger! Tiger! Help! Help!" a tiger!!! But none really came to and help the him.The tiger killed a number of his cows and then killed the cowboy. So we should never make fun by telling lies.
