A journey is always pleasant. It gives us joy and experience. Among all kinds of journeys, a journey by train is one of the most enjoyable and comfortable. Last month, I had a chance to make such a journey from Dhaka to Chattogram. It was a wonderful experience for me.
During the last summer vacation, my parents decided to visit my uncle’s house in Chattogram. We chose to go there by train because it is safe, cheap, and comfortable. My father bought the tickets in advance. On the fixed day, we reached Kamalapur Railway Station at 6 a.m. The station was very crowded. Some people were waiting for trains, some were busy buying tickets, and others were talking or reading newspapers.
Soon, our train arrived. We got on the train and took our seats beside the window. At 6:30 a.m., the train started moving slowly. I looked outside and felt very happy. The city buildings, roads, and shops began to move backward as the train gained speed. Soon, we came out of the city and saw green fields, trees, and small villages on both sides of the railway line. The sight was very beautiful. Farmers were working in the fields, children were playing, and women were busy with household work.
The train stopped at several stations on the way. At each station, some passengers got down and others got on. I saw many hawkers selling tea, biscuits, fruits, and magazines. I bought a packet of chips and a cup of tea. The sound of the running train and the whistle of the engine made the journey even more exciting.
After about six hours, our train reached Chattogram station. We got down with our luggage. My uncle was waiting there to receive us. Though the journey was long, I did not feel tired because it was full of joy and beauty.
A journey by train is really an enjoyable and memorable experience. It gives us a chance to see the countryside and the way of life of common people. I will never forget my journey by train. I wish to make such a journey again.

A journey by train means travelling from one place to another by railway. It saves time and money. A train can carry a large number of passengers and goods at the same time. The inside of a train is long and spacious. There are seats for passengers to sit comfortably. Some trains have sleeping arrangements and food facilities for long-distance travel.
A journey by train is very enjoyable because it passes through beautiful places. While travelling, we can see green fields, rivers, canals, trees, and villages through the window. We can also see farmers working in the fields, children playing, and women busy with household work. All these things make the journey lively and interesting. The sound of the moving train—“chhuk chhuk chhuk”—gives a special rhythm to the journey.
Trains move faster than buses, so we can reach our destination more quickly. There is no traffic jam on the railway. Passengers can relax, read books, or talk with others during the journey. It is a peaceful way to travel. Moreover, train journeys are safer than journeys by bus or launch because accidents are rare.
Bangladesh Railway plays an important role in our communication system. It connects the capital with distant districts and helps in trade, business, and education. Many people travel to cities for work or study by train every day. The railway also helps transport goods like jute, rice, and vegetables from one part of the country to another.
However, sometimes train journeys can be delayed or uncomfortable due to crowding, especially during Eid or other festivals. Many people try to get on the train without tickets. Some compartments become overcrowded, and passengers face difficulties. Still, despite these problems, a journey by train remains one of the best travel experiences in our country.

A journey by train is one of the most delightful and fascinating modes of travel. It is not merely a means of transportation but an experience filled with charm, rhythm, and reflection. The train, gliding smoothly across vast landscapes, offers a panoramic view of the countryside and evokes a sense of adventure and tranquility that few other journeys can match.
Travelling by train combines comfort with excitement. Unlike road journeys, it is free from the chaos of traffic and the monotony of continuous driving. The gentle motion of the train, the rhythmic sound of its wheels clattering on the rails, and the cool breeze entering through the windows create a soothing harmony that relaxes both body and mind. Passengers can read, chat, observe, or simply gaze through the window as the ever-changing scenes roll by.
The railway station itself is a scene of remarkable liveliness. The sound of whistles, the hustle of passengers, the calls of vendors, and the rush of luggage porters together form a vibrant picture of human activity. Once aboard, the compartments offer a miniature world of diversity—people from different walks of life, regions, and backgrounds, all sharing the same destination for a brief span of time. This coexistence reflects the unity and diversity that characterize human society.
As the train moves forward, it reveals the beauty of nature in its varied forms. One can see golden fields of ripened crops, green meadows dotted with cattle, silent rivers winding through villages, and distant hills touching the sky. The sight of the rising or setting sun through the train window is especially enchanting—painting the sky with golden and crimson hues that leave a lasting impression on the traveler’s mind.
A train journey also provides time for thought and reflection. The continuous movement of the train seems to mirror the journey of life—full of stations, pauses, and destinations, yet always moving forward. For many, it becomes a metaphor for human progress and the unstoppable passage of time.
In addition to beauty and comfort, travelling by train is also practical and economical. It allows large numbers of people to travel long distances at a reasonable cost. Modern trains are equipped with various facilities that ensure convenience and safety. Moreover, railway travel is environmentally friendlier compared to other modes of transport, as it reduces fuel consumption and pollution.
In conclusion, a journey by train is not just a physical movement from one place to another; it is an experience that touches the senses and enriches the mind. It offers a rare combination of comfort, scenery, and reflection. Whether it is a short trip or a long voyage, travelling by train remains a timeless pleasure—one that continues to captivate the hearts of travelers across generations.

Journey by Train

A journey by train is one of the most delightful and fascinating experiences that modern transportation offers. It combines comfort, speed, and scenic beauty in a way few other modes of travel can. Unlike air travel, which rushes past the world below, or road travel, which can be tiring and monotonous, a train journey allows the traveller to move smoothly through the heart of the land, witnessing its beauty unfold in all its variety. It is a symbol of progress and human ingenuity, connecting cities, towns, and villages with an invisible thread of steel and motion.
Train journeys hold a unique charm that appeals to both the mind and the senses. The rhythmic clatter of wheels against rails creates a soothing music that accompanies the entire voyage. The continuous hum of the engine, the soft rocking of the compartments, and the whistle that echoes through valleys or towns together form an atmosphere that is both romantic and restful. As the train glides along, passengers can sit comfortably by the window and watch a constantly changing panorama—lush green fields, flowing rivers, golden crops, silent woods, small cottages, and bustling stations all appear and disappear like scenes in a moving film.
One of the most remarkable features of a train journey is its democratic nature. It brings together people from all walks of life—students, workers, families, tourists, and traders—each with a different destination and a different story. Inside the train, distinctions of wealth, class, or profession seem to fade away. Conversations begin between strangers who might never have met otherwise. A spirit of friendliness often develops among passengers, making the atmosphere lively and humane. For many, the train becomes a small world in motion, where the shared rhythm of travel binds everyone together, if only for a few hours.
The efficiency and organization of a railway system also add to the fascination of train travel. Every aspect—from the punctuality of schedules to the coordination of signals, stations, and staff—reflects human discipline and technological mastery. The railway stations themselves are miniature worlds of activity. Vendors call out their goods, porters move briskly with luggage, children gaze curiously at the engines, and the whistle of an approaching train fills the air with anticipation. When the train finally arrives, there is a burst of movement and excitement, followed by a smooth departure that leaves behind the faint echo of steam or the gentle hum of electricity.
A journey by train also offers a deeper connection with nature and geography. As the train travels across plains, bridges, hills, and tunnels, it reveals the country’s vastness and diversity. Each region seems to have its own personality, reflected in the landscape, architecture, and people visible from the window. In this way, a train journey becomes an education in itself—an open classroom where one can study the life, culture, and beauty of a nation. The traveller learns to appreciate not only the destination but also the journey itself as a meaningful experience.
From an environmental point of view, train travel is also one of the most sustainable forms of modern transportation. It consumes less energy and produces fewer emissions compared to road or air travel. For this reason, trains have regained importance in the age of climate awareness. High-speed rail networks in developed countries now symbolize not just convenience, but also a commitment to eco-friendly progress. Even in developing nations, the railway remains a lifeline for trade, communication, and mobility—helping to unite distant regions and accelerate economic growth.
Moreover, a journey by train carries a certain nostalgia that no other form of travel can match. Literature, art, and cinema have often celebrated the train as a symbol of adventure, mystery, and human longing. The sound of the whistle, the sight of tracks disappearing into the horizon, or the image of a lone traveller staring through a rain-splashed window—all evoke emotions of reflection and wonder. For many, a train journey becomes not merely a physical passage, but a metaphor for life itself—with its departures, stations, delays, and arrivals representing the stages of human existence.
Despite modern advancements in aviation and road transport, the train retains its charm and relevance. It stands as a bridge between the old and the new—a reminder of the industrial revolution that transformed human life, and a promise of the sustainable future that modern societies now seek. To journey by train is to experience movement not just through space, but through history and imagination. It invites the traveller to slow down, to observe, and to feel connected with the wider world.
In conclusion, a journey by train is much more than a mere act of travelling from one place to another. It is a harmonious blend of comfort, culture, and curiosity. It satisfies both the intellect and the senses, allowing the traveller to explore the landscape and the life that pulse through a nation’s veins. Whether one travels for work, leisure, or learning, the train offers a rare combination of peace and excitement. It is a moving theatre of life—an elegant reminder that the true joy of travel lies not only in reaching a destination, but in the journey itself.
