Juvenile Delinquency

At present, the most talked about and one of the most serious problems prevailing in the world especially the developing country like Bangladesh is juvenile delinquency. Juvenile means psychologically and physically immature person and Delinquency means crime. So juvenile delinquency means crime committed by the young. A juvenile delinquent is a teenager who usually breaks the state law by committing crimes.  It refers to a violation of the law committed by the young and not punishable strictly. The crimes caused by the young, maximum remain unpunishable. There are many factors and reasons which drive a teen to crime. The complex and major factors that contribute much to juvenile delinquency include poor socioeconomic condition, lack of family ties, physical abuse at home, carelessness of parents, frustration, poor education, social media, and networking, surrounding environment and company, lack of moral and ethical knowledge, unemployment, lack of love, improper use of technology, deprivation of basic human rights, bad company, crime TV serial, and overall political unrest. With the onset of adolescence, they go through several changes. They wish to be independent and get engaged in different types of risky behavior such as smoking, addiction to drugs, and teen gangs. At present, the juvenile is getting involved in technology-based crime much. At this age, they do not think about the future or the aftereffect of criminal activities and so they involve in offenses like murder, theft, rape, hijacking, drinking, etc. Juvenile delinquency causes social imbalance and destroys the normal growth and educational and future career of the teenager. This complex problem is now out of control but possible to come out of juvenile delinquency if we all work together. Proper education with moral and religious, parent-children interactions, recreation, community involvement, bullying prevention, ensure employment opportunity, the creative environment can help a great extent to come of the problem. Using smartphones with some gaming facilities like FREE FIRE, PUBG, and entertaining facilities like TikTok, Likee, which increase young Gangs, should be permanently prohibited. The government should enforce strict laws for the young in using smartphones especially the internet. All educational institutions can play a vital role in this regard. The law enforcement agency should make sure that the juvenile must remain home after sunset. Juvenile Delinquency is a great threat for our future generation who are the future leaders. No nation or no society is completely free from crime. So, all the related concerns including parents should work together to make a bright future for the young by preventing Juvenile Delinquency.
